Summary
The role of Veterinarians advocating to sport medicine began with the increasing number of new physical activities with dogs in the last 20 years. These intense activities require a dog, not only to have a good athletic preparation, but a correct technique of application. However many sporting dogs suffer from different kind of injures during competition or during their training. Good knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics, pathology, clinical conditions, common veterinary surgical and clinical interventions and handling skills, as well as physiotherapy assessments and treatment techiques are essential when treating these patients and putting them again on elite sport level.
